We believe the answer is because we offer the best value, quality and service in the region. We encourage folks to visit us, ask around and compare. We are confident that our funeral home and cemetery compares favorably to any.
We have helped thousands of families bury and memorialize their loved ones. Our growth is largely ‘word-of-mouth’. The families that we have served are our best advertising; they experience the service we offer and share their appreciation with their friends and family who come to us to assist them too. We have no sales personnel calling and knocking on your door like many others, hoping to pressure you into buying with us. We think such sales tactics are unwarranted and offensive to our families. We think that competitors who resort to these sales tactics have to because their reputation does not pull the families to them as it should.
A couple of decades ago, the large Wall Street traded cemetery and funeral operators came to town and bought out most of the large cemeteries and funeral homes in the area. They have stockholders to report to who expect high earnings, and pressure their facilities to pare services and increase earnings. Many families have since come and used Brookland Cemetery and Schoppenhorst-Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, who had made prior commitments to these other sold out cemeteries and funeral homes but no longer like what they saw there. We have no public stockholders pressuring us for high profits. Our family has been in this neighborhood for 230 years. Our families are our friends and neighbors. We are not going anywhere. We are proud to look them in the face after having served them well. In return the families spread the word and our services are growing rapidly, which we are humbled by and appreciative of.
