Why Do Brookland’s Monuments Stand Straight and Some Others Do Not?

All monuments erected in Brookland Cemetery must have a concrete foundation under the entirety of its base in order to keep it standing plumb in the distant future. Many smaller and older cemeteries do not have foundations under their monuments and over time the freezing and thawing of the ground will tilt the monument out of level, leaving it unsightly when the cemetery is full of monuments tilting every which way.

Even flush markers like those present in memorial park cemeteries will bury themselves in the ground and become out of level as the freezing and thawing of the ground heaves the top of ground up and down.
Because Brookland Cemetery installs concrete foundations, its monuments should stand plumb over the distance of time.
